3-day Tour in Guangzhou

Day 1 Arriving at Guangzhou

Arrival at Guangzhou airport or train station in the morning, met by our local tour guide. You are transferred to our designated hotel in Guangzhou. After lunch, visit Yuexiu Park, a green belt in the city center of Guangzhou housing gardens, shaded wood paths and museums and take a picture of the symbol of Guangzhou - the sculpture of five rams.

Then move on to Shamian Island, former British and French concession on a tiny island on Pearl River linked to the mainland by several bridges. Now it is a paradise and old world charm in the busy city of Guangzhou. You won't see heavy traffic there. Houses there are from the late 19th century and early 20th century.

At the end of the half day tour, you are returned to your hotel and free for rest of the day.

Day 2 Guangzhou

Pick up from your hotel in Guangzhou around 9:00 am. First visit Chen Clan Temple, an ancestral shrine for the Chen clan built 1894 with exquisite carvings, paintings, and ornate scrollwork. Then move on to visit Nanyue King Museum, the mausoleum of the Nanyue King dating to 2000 years ago and accidentally discovered in 1983.

After lunch, continue to visit. Then head to Six Banyan Temple, originally built in AD537 to enshrine the Buddhist relics. The Temple of the Six Banyan Trees is one of the four best Buddhist temples in Guangzhou and located on the Liurong Road (meaning the Six Banyan Trees Road). It has a rich collection of cultural-relics and is renowned both at home and abroad. Visit Peasant Movement Institue: the Institute was set up in 1924 by the CCP at a site of a former Confucius Temple. Mao Zedong and Zhou Enlai both taught here.

Move on to the new city axis of Guangzhou and have a stroll on the Huacheng Square - have an outside look at Guangdong Museum, the Canton Tower (the tallest tower in China) and West Tower ( Guangzhou International Finance Centre ). Continue to walk on Haixin Sha Park, the site of the opening ceremony of the Asian Games 2010.

After dinner, head to the cruise pier for one-hour cruising on the Pearl River. Compared with daytime cruises on the Pearl River, night cruises are more attractive. The sparkling lights on both banks of the river and the moon reflecting on its waters create a magical atmosphere. Night cruises start from the White Goose Pool and end at either the Guangzhou Bridge in the east or the Baihedong (White Crane Cave) in the south.

During the one hour cruise, every visitor will be entranced by the beauty of the Pearl River and sights such as the White Goose Pool, Zhuhai Square, Aiqun Mansion, the Guangzhou Hotel and the European architecture of Shamian Island buildings. The ship also passes under ten famous bridges including Renmin Bridge, Haizhu Bridge, Guangzhou Bridge, and Jiefang Bridge.

At the end of the day tour, you are transferred back to your hotel in Guangzhou.
