Zhou Meisheng

Born in Najing City, Jiangsu Province, China in 1951, Zhou Meisheng (known as Meisheng) had learned calligraphy and painting since childhood, and worked as photojournalism, art designer, photographer, columnist of travel and human geography, as well as photography professor in art collage after graduating from Tianjin University.

From acknowledging film camera to focusing on photography, then to being immersed himself in landscape photography, Meisheng has engaged in taking photos in professional way over 30 years. In the meantime, he had traveled across fifties countries, and also held individual exhibitions in dozens of cities as well as hundreds of photographic seminars.

In addition to serving as art director of Publishing House of Electronics Industry, Meisheng has released academic papers over 200,000 words and works over 200 pieces for three consecutive years in Chinese Photography - an authoritative magazine in terms of photography in China. In the year of 2007, Meisheng was honored World Monuments Fund’s “World Heritage Promotion Award” in light of extraordinary creative-contributions on World Heritage Imaging.

Particularly, the contributions world and China heritages include his visual publications - Ancient Town Yi Shi, Anecdote of Ancient House, Scholars' Lens: Imaging Chinese Culture, and aural lectures on Lecture Room in Channel CCTV10 and CNG (China National Geography), as well as literary works on PHOTOWORLD and CANON Circle.

Apart from common photography, Meisheng has always been focusing on a monographic study of World’s Natural and Cultural Heritage in China (organised by World Monuments Fund), in terms of initially exploring humanity, culture, geography, history and current situation with his passion on photography and life.
