Gil Rigoulet

French photographer Gil Rigoulet was born in 1955, and  began his career in the press in 1975 and became the first official photographer of the newspaper Le Monde in the early 80’s with whom he collaborated for more than 20 years. For three decades, he worked with numerous national and international press magazines.

At the same time, his personal work places particular emphasis on the intensity of the gaze, the desire to see and to show. For him, who interferes in the life of others, his sensitive images take shape: rockers with gominated strands, love kisses, goguette photographers, body and water… and always the street.

He wanted to be a painter, stylist, at « concours des arts appliqués », they advise against him, because of… color blindness. That’s how he became a professional photographer.

Besides, there are a great deal of exhibitions held and publications published by Gilles Rigoulet since 1984. in addition, he is also the co-author of the series “Portrait d’un quotidien” with photographer Henri Cartier-Bresson.
