Bentonia, Miss: Spending Summer Time in Warm Home

Spending summers in Bentonia, Mississippi as a child and revisiting as an adult inspired 'Bentonia, Miss'. The people and places photographed are my relatives and those I've had a connection to.

Blue Front

Bentonia is a very small community where everyone knows each other in some way. My revisit was very nostalgic, refreshing, and I was inspired to reconnect with a part of myself and my life that had become unfamiliar to me. Seeing my family, getting a better understanding of our history, and observing their comfortability in their different lifestyles was something that I deeply resonated with.

Grandma

Javon

I felt as if I had lived there my whole life, and was warmly welcomed back home by my loved ones. Bentonia, Miss is still in progress and will be concluded with a short film.
