The judging of the Second Student Photography Competition was completed on 20th of November. After three months of collection, we have received over 2,000 valid works from all over China. They excel in rich content and styles, including documentary, landscape, conceptual and other kinds of works, which reflect the active minds and creative ideas of contemporary student photographers.

The judging committee is composed of three China’s acclaimed photographers: Su Min’an (former professor of Academy of Arts &Design, Tsinghua University), Kang Taisen (winner of the Fifth Golden Figure Award) and Liu Fusheng (chairman of the Photographers Association of Hebei District, Tianjin). After several hours of rigorous discussion and voting, 30 works have made their way to the finalists, and 6 were awarded the prize winners. Winners will be announced later on en.g-photography.net after examination.

Su Min’an gave pertinent comments to the selected works, “Student photographers of today tend to have a broader view and more extensive knowledge of photography. They conduct innovative imitation which is to emulate the predecessors while also develop their own creative ideas. With thorough preparation and exquisite photo editing techniques, they also strive to surpass the predecessors. However, a minor mistake in composition may probably degrade the performance of a nice shot. So it is advised that the pictures be simple and clear, highlighting the subject as well as the theme.”

There will be more student photography contests in the future, and we are looking forward to more participation of student photographers.
