Judging of the Silk Road Youth International Photography Competition completed

On the morning of July 22, the news conference of the 2018 Silk Road Youth International Photography Competition was held in Beijing. The judges from Silk Road countries, such as China, Italy, Greece, Russia, Singapore and other countries will select the gold, silver and bronze prizes, as well as honorable mentions, a total of 166 awards from the 2,244 finalists for the competition.

The Silk Road National Youth International Photography Competition is the first international youth photography event with the theme of countries along the Silk Road. The competition aims to promote cross-border integration and innovation of multiculturalism, strengthen the understanding, communication and exchange of young people from Silk Road countries, as well as mobilize and organize the youth of all countries in the world to record and spread the greatness of building a community of mankind at large, and become a witness, builder and inheritor of the Silk Road culture.

The competition opened for entries in January 2018, and received 157,988 pieces of submissions. The content theme covers the natural landscape, documentary, characteristic culture, folk customs, historical sites and cultural heritage of the Silk Road countries. The contestants come from 52 countries and regions including China, Myanmar, Italy and Greece, with a total number of more than 61,000 entries. In the end, the jury selected a total of 6 gold prizes. It is reported that the winners of the awards will be announced in August 2018, and the award ceremony will be held during the Beijing International Photography Week Exhibition in October.

It is worth mentioning that this competition has set up 10 divisions such as Shenzhen and Zhanjiang, and launched related ceremonies, the Youth Photography Development Forum, the Public Welfare Photography Education Class, and the Silk Road Cultural Photography Research and Studying, and division judging activities. These activities not only attracted young photographers, but also promoted the knowledge of photographic art, so that the majority of young people have a deeper understanding of the “Belt and Road” initiative.
