This armed ranger accompanied me on a gorilla trek in Mgahinga national park, Uganda. The gorillas are the most amazing thing I have ever seen – he is a sharp reminder of the threat they face from man.

Our cruise ship, Brilliance of the Seas, docked in Boka Kotorska, Montenegro. We took a tour from the ship which provided us with this breathtaking view.

I took this photograph high up in the Pamir Mountains near Bulunkul village, eastern Tajikistan. This young dancer was performing in an event organised by the Aga Khan Foundation to promote tourism in this remote and beautiful region.

I spotted this marvellous mural in Swanage, Dorset. A man is eating his ice-cream while texting, as a mother explains the picture to her children. I had to look twice to make out who was in the picture and who outside.

Wi Fi is not readily available in Havana, just in hotspots dotted around the city. I was attracted to this shot by the beautiful old, crumbling interior in contrast to the modern phenomena of people staring at a phone.

This man was sitting near me on the Eurostar to Paris and spent the whole journey looking out of the window. It was a sunny day and I managed to capture some great reflections.
