Readers' travel photography competition: July – the winners

This month’s images include contrasting views of an iconic bridge in Myanmar, the Kyrgyzstan steppe and a North Yorkshire storm. This was taken in Iceland after a long hike to see a waterfall. I carried on trekking and found this place. I love the fact the photograph looks almost like a painting.

Two horses grazing on a jailoo, or summer pasture, in the surrounds of Song-Köl Lake in Kyrgyzstan. I was fortunate to capture the horses against a stormy sky giving a sense of the scale of this beautiful place.

U Bein Bridge, Amarapura, Myanmar. Locals crossing the longest teakwood bridge in the world (1.2 km). Shooting from the bank, the boat adds to the sense of perspective on how long the bridge actually is.

Svalbard archipelago: a polar bear tucks into its lunch. 2017 has been a late season for the ice allowing for great sightings of these animals.

This dramatic opportunity at Sandsend in North Yorkshire was created by a combination of high tide and winds. It took some patience to get this image and I was soaked in the process by a wave hitting me from behind!
