Description South African-born photographer and art director Kevin Goss-Ross has specialised in portraiture in all its many guises. His major work is to artificially light to bend an existing environment; and in the complete opposite direction, to capture more spontaneous documentary style photos in consists of documenting underground cultures and night life.

His series “The Mile” celebrates one mile of beaches on the KwaZulu-Natal coast. “The beach is a shared space in which people from all backgrounds, classes and cultures collectively let their guard down.” stated Kevin Goss-Ross, “in a country still healing from a past marred by inequality, this setting is a testimony to Nelson Mandela’s dream of a rainbow nation.” It is about a vision of what people’s country could be - in equal part naivety and hope.
