Gold Rush: The Coexistence Between Two Eras[1] author: Qingjian Meng
Tags Portrait
Description Qingjian Meng began his photography career working along side top fashion photographers in NYC for international publications and gallery exhibitions. Working as a studio manager in NYC, he immersed himself in the technical nuances of the latest photographic equipment.

His pictures are fascinating and always executed with an incredible technical mastery that makes us think of the Realism art movement. In his “Gold Rush”, Qingjian Meng stages the coexistence of two opposite eras to explore the contrast between the American economic drive of the mid-19th century with nowadays’ motivation. The characters from the 19th century are posing with technological objects from the 21st century such as an iPad, an electronic cigarette or an audio headset.

“No matter what era or place people have come from, the human spirit will always strive to create something new building on the foundation of their predecessors”, said photographer.
