Sony World Photography Awards

The Sony World Photography Awards has four competitions

·Professional

·Open

·Youth

·Student Focus

Professional competition

10 categories, judged on a body of work

Photographers must submit a minimum of 5 and maximum of 10 images and all submissions must be accompanied by a series description.

Entered into the competition must have been taken between the dates of January 1st and December 31, 2016.

Images should be no smaller than 1MB and no larger than 5MB. Images should be either JPEG or TIFF files.

All images must be saved in the RGB colour model and EXIF data must be left in the image file.

Award:

Photographer of the Year - $25,000 (USD) / Sony digital imaging equipment / Included in exhibition at Somerset House, London

Category winners - Flights & accommodation to awards ceremony in London / Sony digital imaging equipment / Publication in winners’ book / Included in exhibition at Somerset House, London

Shortlist - Digital exhibition at Somerset House, London

Open competition

10 categories, rewarding the best single images

National Awards - Entries submitted to the Open competition are automatically entered into the National Awards based on nationality (please check if your individual country is participating).

Award:

Open Competition winner - $5,000 (USD) / Sony digital imaging equipment / Flights and accommodation to the awards ceremony in London / Included in exhibition at Somerset House, London

Category winners - Sony digital imaging equipment / Publication in winners’ book / Included in exhibition at Somerset House, London

Shortlist - Digital exhibition at Somerset House, London / Publication in winners’ book

Entries will be judged between the 9th January 2017 and the 31st January 2017.

Youth competition

For all photographers aged 12-19, a single image responding to one brief

Award:

Youth competition winner - Flights and accommodation to awards in London / Sony digital imaging equipment / Included in exhibition at Somerset House, London

Shortlist - Digital exhibition at Somerset House, London / Publication in winners’ book

Entry deadline: 5th January 2017.

Student Focus competition

The Student Focus competition is one of the world’s leading programs for photography students. Anyone undertaking a full-time photography course can take part

Award: All shortlisted photographers are given Sony digital imaging equipment and flown to London to attend the Sony World Photography Awards ceremony, with the winner receiving €30,000 worth of Sony photography equipment for his or her university. All shortlisted photographers will be able to attend a morning of intimate portfolio reviews with World Photography Organisation editorial staff and the Student Focus judges.
